Searching
for Models but don't know the manufacturer?
If looking for
2N2222, search the INDEX site or
go to
www.Google.com and search for
2N2222 spice or 2N2222 model |

555
timer - A subcircuit for the TLC555, a modern lower power
version, is available at the Texas Instruments site link below. This
subcircuit requires specific settings to work
in astable mode. An easier alternative is to use the one-shot in
5Spice instead (version 1.20 and up).
Analog
Devices Under "Models", select SPICE, then select a
product catagory. Or search by product number, select product, then
find "Design Tools" listing on product page.
CoilCraft inductors
Diodes
Incorporated
signal, power, zener. The MOSFET models do not include the drain to
source diode that all power MOSFETs have. Use with 5Spice's ordinary
MOSFET schematic symbol or use the Zetex MOSFET models instead.
Fairchild
discrete devices. Note: MOSFET models use non-standard syntax and are
not supported. IGBT models only work with PSpice, not 5Spice. Click
on entry in "Condition" column in device list to request model.
Ferrite
Bead PDF file download. page 6 shows subcircuit for lossy bead,
graphs on page 2. The peak impedance is about 90% of the value of R4.
Let us know if you find the way to change the center frequency of the
impedance curve.
General Semiconductor
TransZorbs, diodes. note: most diode models are included with 5Spice.
Company has been bought by Vishay.
KEMET
Download and
install the KEMET Spice program to get their capacitor models. Run
their program and select the capacitor you want. Move the graph
cursor to the frequency you want the model to represent - you can
lock the cursor by right clicking the mouse. Then go to the menu,
select "MonitorXY", then select "Model Display".
Press the Output List button and save the model file to the
Subcircuits area of the 5Spice Library.
Note: many
file saves cause the KEMET program to show a confusing error message
indicating a bad character in the name. The fix is to shorten the
file name, then save.

caution: subcircuits for MOSFET devices starting with letters BS...
(formerly Siemens SIPMOS) do not use standard node order. User must
change node order on .Subckt line to be drain, gate, source. Find
subcircuit libraries at bottom of product pages.

file crash bug: LTC1250, LT1168_IN, LT1168_OUT contain diode
models with parameter EG set to a negative value. Value should always
be positive. WinSpice will crash. Other Spice3 simulators will warn
and set value to 0.1, far from normal 0.6.
FIX: remove
the minus sign. "EG=-0.61" change to "EG=0.61"
Maxim
crash bug:
5Spice prior to v1.30 and some other Spice simulators. Low supply
voltage Maxim opamp subcircuits containing diode models with
parameter N=0.1m (=1e-4, Spice default is 1.0).
National
Semiconductor individual model downloads
convenient
library of National op amp models Spice44.zip,
not National site so may be older.
ON
Semiconductor large selection of Discrete and Power Control/Managment
ICs. Ignore the Logic model downloads, they are not Spice models.
After
unzipping the download, notice it has 3 or 4 files for each device.
Use the .SP3 files and delete the .SIN and .SP2 files (will fail or
give incorrect results). Also delete the .LIB file if a .SP3 file is
present. Some files with .TXT extension contain three models, each
for a different version of Spice. Copy the model for "Berkley
3" or "Spice 3" to a separate file and give that file
the .SP3 extension. 5Spice will ignore the .TXT file. Some files with
.TXT extension have a single PSpice model - change these files'
extension to .LIB
Philips caution:
for 5Spice prior to v1.30 and Spice3 in general, PSpice power MOSFET
models require removing the "IS=0" parameter from the NMOS
.MODEL lines to prevent crash in Spice3.
Also the
subcircuit for shottky diode BAS40L contains a typographical error in
line "D1 1 2 BAS40L". Line should read "D1 1 2 BAS40-05V"

MOSFETs, search site for "spice", then look for MOSFETs in results
Supertex inc.
has some ancient models for small power MOSFETs like 2N7002. Problem
is the models don't include the drain to source diode that all power
MOSFETs have. Avoid - use the Zetex models instead.
switch
mode power supply models, book, links
excellent book by C. Basso. Starting with v1.30, 5Spice
includes some demo schematics and models from his new 2008 book.
Requires program registration to modify the model parameter values
from the schematic.

Teccor
(now LittleFuse) - lower power TRIACs, SCRs, thyristors. Search
site using "spice" as keyword. Note: the node/pin order of
TRIAC and SCR subcircuits is not standardized in Spice. 5Spice
includes symbols that work with the common node order, modify the
.subckt line for other node orders. Put files under the Diode_BJT_FET
section of library.
Texas
Instruments
search site using "spice" as keyword. click on "analog
and mixed-signal models". select area of interest. The program
does not support the data convertor models.
For 5Spice
prior to v1.20: Burr-Brown model files: these very old files end with
a Ctrl-Z character which causes problems. To use, edit in Windows
Notepad and delete the final character - it looks like a square box.

Vishay
keeps buying companies that make discrete devices, so has many
discrete products formerly made by others. Select product catagory,
then look for Spice under "Related Information" heading.
Use the Spice3 or I-Spice models. caution: for 5Spice prior to
v1.30 and Spice3 in general: some power MOSFET models require
removing the "IS=0" parameter from the .MODEL lines to
prevent crash in Spice3.
Zetex

On the Zetex

choose "Save target as...".
If you open
